It’s six o’clock in the morning and I haven’t slept. And it’s a Friday.

Nothing much happening. Nothing big to lose sleep over. Napuyat lang akong kaka-trawl ng internet archives ko of my past articles sa POC, that defunct online portal project ng textbook publisher kong ayoko na ring pangalanan dito kasi ilang taon na nila akong hindi binabayaran ng book royalties. But that’s for another blog post hahaha.

Someone emailed me, inquiring about these articles I wrote, a masteral student taking up media studies of some sort, perhaps doing a paper or thesis on the lesbian representation in media and pop culture, the usual topic they approach me with. Sometimes they find me online because of my past works, sometimes they are pointed my way by former colleagues and such. I’ve met at least a couple of these fine folks early this year, one local and one international even. So it’s really cool to share my knowledge and insights to these younger folks continuing “the good fight” that is pop culture criticism regarding queer representation and such. As I’ve told them, I already bowed out of this game, and I’m not keen to produce new scholarship of sorts about this topic.

Gusto ko na lang ng tahimik na buhay at this point in time. Like what I wrote in my Threads account, I’m just a tita of Manila, a citizen of the planet, a tibamchi of the universe. Solo traveling, foodie discovering, drinks sampling, streaming media and chill kind of tita na lang tayo. Let the young ones take up the mantle. Kayang-kaya na nila, eh. And I have no currency to write such new stuff pa about this. Maybe lighthearted posts na lang and such sa mga socmed accounts ko.

Yeah nga pala, if you want to follow me on Threads, I’m @leaflens there, walang kamatayang handle since the ’90s beh. Madali namang makita. Follow n’yo na lang if you like. Early this year ko lang na-activate ito. I’m not liking the cesspool that is Twitter, especially after you-know-who bought it and messed it up. My account is still there but I turned it private na. It’s still part of my historical archives anyway, so dun lang muna siya.

Anyway, napa-blog tuloy ako rito nang di oras kasi I don’t know if magbi-breakfast na ba ako or matutulog hahaha. Kaloka. Buti na lang at nakarami-rami na rin ng work this week. As a freelancer / contractual worker with fulltime-esque work duties and hours (if I so choose it, that is), I still get my plate full naman. Lalo na nitong si kuwago lately!!! Uber busy kami, til the end of the year na ito grabe.

Pero teka, kailangan na ngang matulog. Para mapuno ulit ang energy. Para mas maharap ulit si kuwago later hehe.
